| When we started Pea Ridge in 1994, our goal was to provide quality elk to the Midwest. We initially selected elk from the best herds in North America, which led to the excellent breeding stock we have today, over 400 elk cows and bulls, the largest elk population in Illinois.
Our state-of-the-art handling equipment facilitates all herd health procedures, testing and treatments on site. The cow herd has been developed with an emphasis on mild temperament, early calving, consistently conceiving early in the season, and optimum weaning weight of the calves. Replacement heifers are carefully selected to constantly improve the herd.
